Retargeting is an advertising technique for recaputuring potential customers attention, encouraging them to return to a website and complete a purchase. According to the a study by Bizrate Insights, that 85% of online consumers had a positive or neutral attitude toward retargeting ads, with 25% of online consumers reporting liking retargeted advertising, because the ad reminded them of what they were looking at previously.
“Display retargeting is an effective way to reengage with customers who have shown a direct interest in specific products,” says Hayley Silver, Vice President, Bizrate Insights. “Our recent study shows that when executed correctly, many consumers find display retargeting to be a useful and convenient way to find their way back to the sites and products they intended to revisit and purchase.”
About the Study
The 2012 Display Advertising Study was conducted via the Bizrate Insights survey platform and offered to online buyers immediately after purchasing from the Bizrate Insights Network of over 5,000 ecommerce retailers in the US and Canada. Data from this study was collected from 5,343 online buyers from March 29–April 3, 2012.
